Pictures and photographs exist from the beginning of lawn tennis whether of famous players and tournaments or of a local long forgotten club or an obscure court at the local vicarage. Whatever they may be they give a delightful snapshot of the culture, clothing and equipment used at that moment in time. . We are sometimes fortunate when finding that old photograph or postcard to have some written information about the location or names of the players depicted.
